..end of another season

It's not all bad I suppose - 94 clubs in the league would kill for second in the premiership, so I reckon it's something to be proud of - especially as 10 months ago some sections of the media didn't even think we'd finish in the top 4. The future looks bright too with the youths trouncing Blackburn in a superb game on Friday in the first leg of the FA Youth Cup Final. The second leg is pretty academic though with Arsenal coming out 5-0 winners inspired by a magnificen performance from young Jermaine Pennant, or 'Peninho' as I understand the lads have taken to calling him. A full match report can be found on arsenal.com with pictures!!!

In the meantime Liverpool have picked up third spot and will be treated to the Champions League next season (when they may face teams with better defences than Porto and Alaves). Leeds should be dissapointed with themselves for not managing third place and Ipswich delighted that they'll be catching planes to further away than Tyneside next season.

I'm not going to get drawn into the Alex Ferguson thing because I think it's ridiculous, he couldn't have been naive enough to think that the most heartless, ruthless board in the country was going to pay him a load of money to show his face at a few charity dinners and be the corporate face of Man U in SIngapore for the rest of his days.... did he?

There's so much to talk about I think I'll do a season review. Expect a new season's worth of rant coming soon.....

Obligatory Transfer Musings

Arsenal are currently talking terms with Japanese playmaker Hidetoshi Nakata, also it seems the gunners have young Icelandic midfielder Olafur Ingi Skulason on trial as he played for the reserves against Chelsea.

Liverpool are apparently about to replace current king of dodgy 'keepers Sander Westerveld with Oliver Kahn of Bayern Munich, why he'd want to leave a team that are on their way to winning the proper European Cup for one who brag about holding the Euro Windscreens Shield I don't know - but thats the talk.

And finally.... apologies to anyone tuning in to SS1 to watch the FA Youth Cup Final, SS2 was (I'm sure you found) the correct channel. Poor intelligence reports, what else can I say? Try to catch the second leg at Ewood park on tuesday, 8:05pm kick off, live on (fingers crossed) Sky Sports 1.
