It's ohh so Quiet...
It's been a fairly quiet week for football, the only news seems to be the endless circulating of the England squad's injury problems, or lack of them. Seaman, Gerrard and McManaman are all fit but (and what a loss) Nicky Butt will miss the clash.
A distinct whiff of double standards has been in the air at the England camp though. With Sven Goran telling us Frank Lampard is not in the squad because of his foolish drinking spree - Erikssons moral standpoint must be commended (or ridiculed depending on your perspective) - but for no equal punishment to be dished out to Steven Gerrard is a bit unfair on Lampard in my opinion. In case you didn't know, Gerrard was out on the lash on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning until the early hours - hours before joining up with the squad for training. Just because he's better than Lampard it doesn't make his behaviour any more acceptable.
Best wishes to Watford (and ex-Arsenal) players Paolo Vernazza and Andrew Douglas who were injured (stabbed) whilst disturbing an intruder at Vernazza's home in London. Paolo was injured in the thigh and Douglas had to undergo emergency surgery on chest wounds. Get well soon and lets hope they catch the ......unpleasant person...... responsible.
