Mind Games and Friendlies
Liverpool finish bottom of their table in the Amsterdam Tournament after losing 3-1 to Ajax. The english team were torn to shreds by an average Ajax side and led Houllier to remark,
"Just ask anyone who will win the title this season and everyone will say Manchester United. I think the competition will be tougher for United in the League but I still think they'll win it."
Just because your lads won't be challenging Gerrard it doesn't mean their won't be a challenge :)
Very little must be going on in football at the momet - a major headline from more than one media today has given me 'Yorke saves the day for United'. Now although beating Thailand 2-1 in a friendly is I'm sure an achievement of some kind, I'm not sure if it warrants quite the amount of attention it has been given.
In contrast to Houlliers comments Arsene Wenger has stated he believes Arsenal can go one better than the last three years and show the rest of the Premiership how it's done. Here's hoping anyway, if only to relieve the monotony.
Newcastle have signed French winger Laurent Robert for a fee of around 10m but things are not all rosy on Tyneside. Kieran Dyer looks like he'll be leaving St James' Park. He has expressed his dissapointment at Newcastle's 'progress' over the last few seasons and is determined to make his mark as an international. Leeds have been interested in the 24 year old for a while now - and my guess is that Dyer will be at Elland Road next seaosn. O'Leary has spent heavily in the last 12 months though so I would imagine someone will have to leave too.
I know updates have been few and far between, please excuse and bear with me.
